The time divergence between clocks in two uniformly moving inertial frames was already explained in the essay “Theoretical Foundations” of the SRT. This leads to the following consideration: An accelerated mass point jumps from one inertial frame to another that has a slightly higher relative velocity. This process is described at the beginning by the sentence „A uniformly accelerated mass point that has rested for an infinitesimal period of time at the origin of the initial system makes an instantaneous leap from the synchronized clock at the origin of the initial system to one of the synchronized clocks of the next fastest system that is just passing by.“ A comparison of the propagation times of coordinated light pulses shows that the time-distance between two events (e.g., the beginning and end of a journey) is shorter from the perspective of an accelerated observer than from the perspective of a non-accelerated observer. In other words, a traveling twin has aged less upon his return than his twin brother who stayed at home.
